What does this number measure?
A smaller spiral galaxy that belongs to the Local Group. The Triangulum Galaxy, or M33, contains large star-forming regions. Its name comes from the constellation in which it lies, rather than from a triangular shape.
Compare the stated dimensions
The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.
Source and limitations
Catalogue order of magnitude; a source is provided, but this measurement has not been individually audited.
Triangulum Galaxy: interpretation of the flocculent spiral disc and ionised regions; approximate colours and boundaries.
