What does this number measure?
Guinness World Records reports a height of 116.07 m measured in 2019 for Hyperion, a Sequoia sempervirens in California. This dated measurement is not presented as its current height: a tree grows and can lose branches. The trunk, crown silhouette and details are interpreted; they are not a photograph or an exact botanical survey. The comparison concerns height, not trunk diameter, timber volume or an all-time record.
Compare the stated dimensions
The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.

Source and limitations
2019 measurement reported by Guinness; no claim about current height. Neither crown shape nor trunk width is represented precisely.
Botanical interpretation of a coast redwood representing Hyperion, not a photograph or an exact survey of its silhouette. Only base-to-crown height is calibrated to the dated 2019 measurement of 116.07 m.
