What does this number measure?
A simple sugar used by cells as an energy source. One glucose molecule contains six carbon atoms, twelve hydrogen atoms and six oxygen atoms. Its shape depends on its surroundings; the stated dimension remains a molecular order of magnitude.
Compare the stated dimensions
The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.
Source and limitations
Catalogue order of magnitude; a source is provided, but this measurement has not been individually audited.
Glucose: a compact model suggesting the cyclic form, using conventional atom colours. Generated connectivity, stereochemistry and proportions have not been validated; approximate molecular extent.
