AH Scorpii: size, dimension and comparison

The adopted reference is about 1.9633E9 km.

Estimated photospheric diameter · 2013 study

1.9633 billion km ≈ 1,963.3 million km. One billion kilometers is 1,000 million kilometers.

What does this number measure?

A variable red supergiant observed using interferometry. The depicted disc represents the diameter, twice the adopted radius of 1411 nominal solar radii (1 nominal solar radius = 695 700 km). The value is a dated estimate, not an established size record. Rosseland radius of 1 411 ± 124 solar radii in Arroyo-Torres et al. (2013), for the adopted distance; its molecular layers extend farther.

Compare the stated dimensions

The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.
