What does this number measure?
In 2005, Rice described a molecule measuring 3 to 4 nm with a chassis, axles and four fullerenes. This reference adopts 4 nm. This molecular demonstrator is neither a self-driving car nor a vehicle capable of carrying an ordinary load.
Compare the stated dimensions
The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.

Source and limitations
The source gives 3 to 4 nm; the reference uses 4 nm. The atomic shape and bonds are schematic.
Original interpreted scientific illustration, not a photograph. The molecule's extent is set at 4 nm. Four fullerene wheels and an H-shaped molecular chassis; not an atom-by-atom chemical reconstruction.
Documented construction or demonstration: 2005.
