What does this number measure?
Guinness World Records gives a historical length of 458.45 m for the tanker after its enlargement and credits it with the record for the longest ship built. It was dismantled in India in 2010; the Hong Kong Maritime Museum preserves its anchor. This reference shows the enlarged tanker's silhouette, not its hull as originally delivered or its final condition at the scrapyard. The dimension runs from bow to stern; tonnage, deadweight and the mass of oil carried are different quantities. The superstructures and piping are interpreted.
Compare the stated dimensions
The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.

Source and limitations
Historical documented length for the enlarged configuration, distinct from the original hull. The published number's centimetre precision is not a measured tolerance. The vessel was dismantled in 2010; this does not claim to represent a ship sailing today.
Interpreted profile of the ship in the documented configuration described. Horizontal overall length calibrated; complete hull visible, with artistic details and equipment. Non-photographic illustration.
Dismantling: 2010.
