What does this number measure?
The Indonesian ministry describes a 123 × 123 m plan and a height of 35 m. The base's side is compared horizontally here, not its height or the site's total area.
Compare the stated dimensions
The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.
Source and limitations
Representative or rounded dimensions according to the source; these are not a confidence interval.
An interpreted frontal profile of Borobudur: square base, terraces and circular platforms, openwork bell-shaped stupas and a central stupa. The measurement compares one side of the base plan, about 123 m under the adopted convention. The sculpture, detailed layout and number of visible stupas are not an exact architectural survey.
