What does this number measure?
In 1997, Cornell presented a silicon guitar about 10 µm long. Its six strings are about 50 nm wide. It is a mechanical fabrication demonstrator, not a guitar that can be played by hand.
Compare the stated dimensions
The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.

Source and limitations
Representative or rounded dimensions according to the source; these are not a confidence interval.
Cornell nanoguitar (1997) made of etched silicon, shaped like an electric guitar with six suspended string-like beams. The total length≈10 µm is compared; the source gives a string width of50nm, but this is not a second measured dimension in this image. Interpreted rendering inspired by microscopy, not an SEM photograph; etching details and secondary shapes are interpreted.
Documented construction or demonstration: 1997.
