Tesla Megapack · 4-hour configuration: size, dimension and comparison

The adopted reference is about 8.8138 m.

Enclosure width ≈ 8.81 m · 4 h battery

8.8138 m = 881.38 cm. A meter contains 100 centimeters, or 1,000 millimeters.

A stationary battery: its physical size, energy storage capacity and power are three different quantities.

What does this number measure?

The Tesla specification consulted gives an enclosure 347 inches wide, 65 inches deep and 110 inches high. With 1 inch = 0.0254 m, its comparison width is 8.8138 m, or about 8.81 m. The height is about 2.79 m. The 4-hour configuration lists 3 916 kWh of energy and 979 kW of power per Megapack. These are respectively 3.916 MWh of energy capacity and 0.979 MW of power; neither is a length. Their ratio gives a nominal duration of four hours, without predicting every real discharge condition. The reference represents one unit, not the order configurator's totals for several units. It does not represent a car battery or daily electricity generation.

Compare the stated dimensions

The comparison uses the number in each fact sheet: altitude, height, diameter, length or distance, depending on the reference. Two values in metres do not necessarily describe the same property.

Source and limitations

Commercial specifications for one unit and the 4 h configuration consulted, subject to change. Exact unit conversion applied to rounded documented dimensions. Stated energy and power are neither a daily flow nor a guarantee of operating duration for every actual load.
